Graduate School of Linguistics, Philosophy and Semiotics (GSLPS)
The Graduate School of Linguistics, Philosophy and Semiotics (GSLPS) is a cooperation between the University of Tartu, Tallinn University, the Estonian Literary Museum and the Institute of the Estonian Language.
The GSLPS was established in 2009, furthering a network that started with the Graduate School of Linguistics and Language Technology (2005–2009).
The coordinating partner of the venture is the University of Tartu.
The strategic aims of the Graduate School of Linguistics, Philosophy and Semiotics are:
- the innovation and optimisation of the PhD programmes included in the graduate school,
- raising the quality of the supervision of the theses of linguistics, the philosophy of language and the semiotics of language, thereby achieving a stabile level increase through the training of supervisors,
- increasing the number of doctoral degrees in the field of the graduate school and improving the quality of the research,
- improving the versatile internal and international cooperation and prepare top linguists for the languages significant to Estonia both internally and in foreign relations.
